Elmswell got the season off to a winning start with victory over local rivals Woolpit. Elmswell won the toss and decided to bat first on a pitch that looked to have runs in it.
Openers I.Plowman and T.Garner put on a decent score of 40 for the first wicket while J.Barnes hit a quickfire 23 and N.Greathead's usual quick running between wickets help him to the innings high score of 45.
In reply Woolpit were looking good to reach Elmswell's total before rain disrupted play on several occasions. After a fairly lengthy rain delay Woolpit's scoring began to dry up due to some tight bowling and excellent fielding with L.Wright and J.Ambrose producing some outstanding stops while J.Garrard took a good catch in the gloom from the bowling of captain K.Barnes.
The game was evenly poised as it entered the final over but Woolpit had left themselves with too much to do and Elmswell took the honours by a single wicket.
